Openings
We are looking for a Data Officer to join our data collection section on part time basis. Reporting to report to a Data Team Lead, the ideal candidate will have exceptional people and communication skills, ability to operate technical devices and have a keen eye for detail. Understanding of data confidentiality principles is compulsory. The company will rely on you for having accurate and updated data that are easily accessible through a digital database.
Responsibilities
- Engage specific population for data collection using available data tools e.g. field interviews, questionnaires and obtain consent from all participants
- Capture quality data onto standard formats e.g. paper, audiovisual and other technical devices
- Transcribe raw data from original formats into computer files, spreadsheets and databases using keyboards, data recorders or optical scanners
- Document collected data without mistakes and while preserving its integrity
- Verify and update existing data by comparing it to source documents
- Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost
- Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested
Requirements and skills
- Certificate/Diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Customer Service
- Proven experience as data officer or similar role including facilitating focus groups discussions
- Great attention to detail and commitment to timely and punctual execution of tasks
- Excellent knowledge of basic data processing programs (MS Office Word, Excel, Google suite)
- Working knowledge of computer hardware, mobile devices and apps is strongly preferred
- Good command of English and Kiswahili both oral and written and Exceptional people skills
