Barbara is a firm believer that many visions can be realized when well packaged and relevant messages get to the right people at the right time. She is soft-spoken, with a keen interest in packaging information excellently enough to meet the needs of all parties and support their goals.
She started off her career supporting corporate communications for NGOs, then went on to serve as an editor in education publishing. She joined the telco industry in 2009 and supported the SMS and online customers for best experience, while dabbling in workforce analytics, the information centre and many other impactful projects, among them Best network for Kenya.
From 2019, she has had the chance to work with Safaricom customer data analytics, specializing in actionable insights to ease the customers’ journey. She enjoys exploring text data insights for improved accuracy in customer segmentation for business growth.
For 6 years before that, she served as their technology communications liaison, and gained valuable experience marketing network claims to the customer base and driving change through advocacy and campaigns for at least 50 projects. Additionally, she served in Safaricom Women in Technology, championed SDGs and volunteered in different Safaricom Foundation programs.
Herself being digitally transformed and a beneficiary of visionary leadership; she continues to advocate the same in her transition into start up world. Driving agile adoption in the hospitality industry throughout 2022 credit modelling in fintech, and most recently data for climate change.
She holds a B.Sc. in Information Sciences from Moi University, an MA in Strategic Corporate Communications from Daystar University and a professional Digital IT certificate specializing in Data Science from Strathmore University.
She also currently serves as a data mentor at Moringa School.
